Effective, cheap, resourceful and feeds many mouths. Screw westernisation :D
RICHARD OF LOXLEY

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

You have to admit that it's pretty effective improvisation - of course western HSE would have a field day but TIT!!

Another Asian shortcut. I wonder how long it would have taken to unload that lot by hand.

Many years ago I replaced the wooden floor in the old house we had in Bangkok, by filling it in with concrete, as it used to get flooded. It needed piles like that, and as it was inside the existing house, a machine could not be used. What really intriuged me was the skinny old man that carried the piles into the house. My wife had to rush out and buy a bottle of Mekong to fuel him up before he carried them! How the hell he did it I do not know! It took about 4 of them to lift 1 pile onto his shoulder, and then he had to walk across a narrow plank to get to the prepared hole.

Isn't that a necessity for all Thai workmen?

I remember having our car port constructed. It was like having the chuckle brothers working for us. By the end of each day they could hardly walk. Just as well they had their pick up to get home in.

They'd be swinging from the rafters, falling from scaffolding and ladders regularly throughout the day. The one who was welding only wore sun glasses. Now what was Dannie Boy saying about the HSE?

Hillarious to watch, and they did a brilliant job .................. eventually.

I think I have the local Chuckle Brothers working next door! Though unlike the ones we're used to, these keep saying 'To me...to me....to me.....to me....to me'
