What do you think about this, have people who have committed hideous crimes forfeited their rights?
Killers' life terms 'breached their human rights'
The European Court of Human Rights has ruled the whole life tariffs given to murderer Jeremy Bamber and two other killers breached their human rights.
The court ruled there had to be both a possibility of release and review to be compatible with their human rights.
However it said this did not mean there was "any prospect of imminent release".
My own view is that if somebody has committed a really horrendous crime that carries a life sentence, it should mean just that - what about the human rights of the victim(s)?

Re: Human Rights
A whole life sentence is effectively a death sentence with the method of dispatch being natural causes; old age, illness, accident etc.
All sentences, assuming the death penalty remains abolished, should have the possibility of release without the need for the conviction to be quashed. I'm not suggesting that release should be mandatory, but the opportunity for at least one review of the need for incarceration should be included in all sentences.
