69 baht - eggstortionate.

 Actually, I don't even know why I want one because I tried DB's advice the other day and the eggs came out perfectly. I guess it's just a matter of trying out a new toy, and besides, our microwave is right next to the kettle and toaster.

PS: BB, you'll eventually be getting your eggs on Friday. Just remember though......... what they lay is what you get. All different sizes and colors. :D

Well, if something unforeseen crops up on John's side, I'm going to drop Kaylene off at his place of work, at let him explain why she can't do karate again. She's really missing it and I'm sure the move to Fridays will be ideal, at least for us. Saying that, with the lessons ending at 21h00, there will still be plenty of time for John to enjoy his Friday night  :D

Popped into Index today and bought the poacher on my way to fetch my two micro people. Will give it a try in an hour or two. Nothing like an egg sandwich before bed.

Okay, so what's the secret for using the damn poacher I bought yesterday?

I followed the instructions......

Painted a bit of butter on the inside of the cups; added half a teaspoon of water to each; put the eggs in; pricked each yolk 3 times; closed the poacher and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. At the end of the 30 seconds the egg whites were clearly not cooked properly (still mostly transparent) so put them in for another 15 seconds. With 5 seconds left to go, the was an eggplosion. Fortunately damage was limited thanks to the clever blast proof design of the poacher, and all evidence of my failure has been destroyed

As it is, I was already getting strange looks from my MIL when I showed her the poacher. :D This was followed by her trying to explain that you can just crack the egg into a pot of boiling water. :thumb: She really sees no reason why the egg has to look nice and neat.

Strange - my instructions were different to yours :?

1. Put a single drop of cooking oil into each cup.

2. Add an egg to each cup.

3. Prick each yolk ONCE with a toothpick.

4. Affix blast proof lid.

5. Cook for 90 seconds.

6. Turn poacher upside down, and disconnect blast proof lid.

7. The perfectly cooked eggs are read to be slid onto your toast, into your sandwich, whatever.

Yep, agree with BB's instructions, except:
90 seconds in my microwave will produce eggceptionally hard poached eggs reminiscent of concrete.

On my instructions, it also says to nuke them for 30 seconds but, like Takiab they're still transparent and runny - so just under a minute seems to be the perfeggt time.

Micros have different power/capacity/performance. I think you have to try to know what time suits your particular micro.

Get yourself some hens for fresh eggs or cadge them from somebody you know, add eggs to a saucepan of gently boiling water and after 3.1/2 to 4 minutes you have perfectly poached eggs

Mine's 850w, but I like mine hard. Tried 80 seconds, and the egg was raw.
