I've been watching The Syndicate which is a six part series shown on BBC1 via the Thai Expat TV system, which was quite good, it even included a plot in episode 5 that might strike a chord with some of our readers? I won't say what it is but funny, in a funny sort of way!!

Two miniseries mysteries:

Top of the Lake, filmed in New Zealand and starring Elisabth Moss of Mad Men. Good plot with beautiful scenery.

Broadchurch, filmed in Dorset. Again, nicely written with some lovely coastal scenery.

Watched the first show of season 2 of Magic City last night, great start to the next season..
Based in the 1950's Miami Beach it has bad, bad guys :guns: , debatable good guys, and lots of cute ladies in it.

The first season was very good. The period setting of the fifty's attracted me to it and hooked me.

Starz, a HBO type channel, made it and should be available through downloads.

Watched both seasons of this - good solid entertainment from up north.

Two that have recently restarted for sci-fi fans:

Falling Skies - Season 3
Continuum - Season 2

Bring on Breaking Bad!

If y'all like Homeland you will also like a series called Sleeper Cell from 2005...2 seasons well worth a looksee.

I've just finished watching both series and really enjoyed it, probably better than Homeland IMO

The Inbetweeners

Timeless schoolboy humour that we downloaded on the recommendation of one of my son's friends. My son and I could both relate this to our schooldays, and both of us could even put old schoolmate's names to the main characters. Probably not everybody's cup of tea, but we love it. Currently available as seasons 1, 2 & 3.

Roll on season 4.

Addicted to the DEXTER series. Got through season 1 (12 episodes) and hooked.

Plenty of intrigue and action as two serial killers pit their wits against each other with a backdrop of police department politics and suspicions. Bit 'yankeefied' but entertaining and gripping nevertheless. Each episode leaves you hanging and eager to watch the next to find the outcome.

Plenty more to come from the next 6 seasons. Been assured by my daughters that they get better the longer you watch. We'll see

The first series had me hooked, Brit drama/mystery at it's best.
Hey, just watched the first episode (S01) of LUTHER. This is good stuff. The show keeps a good pace, good character roles. I didn't realise Idris Elba was a Brit, he played Stringer Bell in the wire, always thought he was a yank.

This is an old thread, but having just finished watching series 3, thought it worth another plug, great series that grabs your attention from first minute to last - if you haven't watched it then its worth downloading.

Just started the first series of Continuum and it looks interesting for sci fi fans.
Tried Breaking Bad but didn't get past the first episode.

My advice for what it's worth..stick with Breaking Bad...I know how you feel about the 1st episode but let me assure you that you won't be disappointed...

I gave up during the first season. Caught up before season 3 started when friends wouldn't shut up about how good it became. Sometimes it takes a season or 2 for actors, writers and directors to adapt to the chemistry (no pun intended) that develops between characters.
