12 mos renewal/extension of existing Non Immigrant "O" Visa

Hi,

Can someone, anyone, just put my mind at rest, with regards to the 12 months extension of a Non Immigrant "O" visa. Given that all the necessary documents, money etc. are in order, does it make any difference whether the original Non Immigrant "O" visa is a single or Multi?

It's for a person over 50 wanting to retire in Thailand, if that makes any difference.
