Dog looking for a home

Post by dotx »

I'm trying to find a home for the dog pictured below.

The dog is some sort of setter, as you can see in the pictures. I found him a few weeks ago, after he’d been abandoned by somebody I knew. He had to be shaved to treat a skin problem, which is why you see him with short hair here. I’m also attaching pictures of him with long hair, so you can see what he’ll look like when the hair grows back.

He desperately, desperately needs a home. The person who owned him (who lived near my old house) simply decided a dog was too much work and she threw him on the streets, after regularly beating him for the most stupid reasons. It took me almost five months to find him and get him off the streets. He’s now taking some medication for a minor skin problem, but other than that, he’s completely healed and back to normal. He could use to gain some weight, though -- he was probably surviving on white rice that people threw at him.

He’s a boy, about 5 years old, and he’s been neutered. He’s the sweetest, most mellow, loving, funny dog. Gets along with everybody, loves kids, loves other animals… I’m furious that the previous owner just got rid of him. He’s now living in a cage at the vet because I can’t bring him to my house. I have three dogs already and two are special needs; otherwise, I would take him myself. He deserves a good home. I’ve paid for his medical treatment and I’m paying for him to stay at the vet until he can find a family. He really deserves a good life.

If you're interested, please send me a message.

What a lovely person you are for helping this lovely looking dog.
I think he looks like a golden retriever out of interest was his last owner a farang.
Good luck with your quest I am sure forum power will bring this to a happy conclusion.

Thanks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can make this happen. The forum has helped me find homes for two other dogs in the past so I'm hoping it happens again. He's a lovely, lovely dog and he really deserves a good life.

Last owner was a Thai woman.

We don't have the space to take him on full time, but would be prepared to put him up for a few weeks to get him out of the vet's cage until Lancashire Lass gets back. That assumes there are no problems getting along with our male retriever (2 yrs old and a softy) and female black lab (18 months and plays rough). They aren't allowed in the house.
If anyone is in a better position to help (i.e. with a bigger garden!), please do.

Lancashire Lass, I sent you an email. dtaai, thanks! Let's see what happens in the next couple of days and maybe I'll take you up on that (if the dogs get along, of course)

Thank you everybody! I'm confident we'll make this work!

Quick update.

A HUGE thanks to dtaai-maai and his wife, who are giving the dog a foster home until Lancashire Lass comes back to Thailand.

Looks like things are going to work out just fine!

Just as a post script, Lancashire Lass picked up Dylan yesterday and took him off to his new home. When all the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth was finished (and that was just Mrs D-M...), Dotx sent me these photos, one from shortly before he arrived with us, another taken yesterday.
