Where to Watch F1

Post by mwbrown »

OK, I've signed up for SuperBru and made my picks. With another wet one at Spa, it's driver skill that will win out...

Also, I cruised around the bar area and came across Sand Inn and O'Neill's Sports Bar, right across from each other. The Sand Inn people turned on their projector for me for Practice 1 at 3 PM. The audio was on the PA speakers behind me, so it was a bit hard to hear. When P1 finished, O'Neill's had opened so I walked over. I met the new owner, an Aussie (perhaps Kiwi) named Steve. They have 6 big screen TVs and every possible video feed and they're working on a big renovation. I'm walking over for P2 at 7 PM. Steve serves beer bottles frozen in ice, and both places can get food from nearby shops. I had great pineapple fried rice from the Denmark restaurant right next door for only B50. I'm liking this!

I can't figure out how to edit my post above. The new O'Neill's Sports Bar's name is Chris, and he's from Australia. I watched P2 on a big flat screen there yesterday, but due to Rugby League on the next screen over, the volume was turned down. I think I'll ask if I can watch P3 and Quali on the screen in the back so I can hear. Otherwise, it's over to Sand Inn again.

I watched P3 at Sand Inn as O'Neills had my screen on mute due to the footy matches. A couple of guys visiting from Bangkok walked in and sat down to watch too, then we agreed to try the Hilton for Qualifying. The Hilton staff was great, they put the race and audio on the big projector. Drinks are about 2x any other bar in HH, but we did get free popcorn... I went back to the Hilton for the race too and it was excellent, several others there to watch including some kitchen staff. As I was leaving I saw the open-air bar next door also had the race on its projection screen.

The rain didn't materialize so it had to be Vettel, pulling away from the pack. Kimi broke his no-DNF streak with brake failure so my picks went out the window. Better luck for Monza!

You get free popcorn in there, too (Montri)! :)
