Although as a Spud I am perfectly entitled to take a pop at the Arsenal any time I like, however low the blow, there really isn't much point speculating about who got the best deal. We will only know that as the season unfolds.

Having said that...
I think Spurs may regret not getting Willian. There's a lot riding on the creative ability of Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela. And Townsend of course. (I wonder if Lennon will find himself to be a Cup play this season...)
I think Man City, Liverpool and Everton have quietly done very well.
I don't understand how Fellaini could be valued so high, but then again, Bale was never worth the absurd fee paid by Real.
Arsenal have imported one player of note at another inflated price. We'll know if he's worth it in about 6 months.
Chelsea's biggest acquisition was probably Mourinho, and I think he can be a double-edged sword.

It really does look like a cracking season ahead.

I agree, time will tell how the new signings (all of them) will do in the premier league. However, I find it quite interesting that both ManU and Spuds had wanted Ozil themselves. That puts some of the Spuddie comments here into very interesting light. Maybe they should get a manager who can speak several languages. :D
There can be no single occasion during the entire 17 years of Arsène Wenger’s tenure at Arsenal when having a multilingual manager has been more useful.
After months of on-off negotiations, the club’s chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, was made aware on Saturday that Real Madrid would be willing to sell Mesut Özil for £42 million.
The problem, however, was that Özil himself had always seen his future at Madrid and would need some convincing.
Wenger immediately broke off from his preparations for Sunday’s north London derby, dialled Özil’s phone number and, after a series of lengthy conversations in German, was quietly confident that the deal had been done.
While Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was at the Emirates watching his team lose 1-0 to Arsenal, Gazidis was arriving in Spain to conclude a deal with Madrid.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... enger.html
TOTTENHAM chairman Daniel Levy called Real Madrid president Florentino Perez yesterday in a bid to stop him selling Mesut Ozil to Arsenal, it has been revealed.
Daniel Levy didn't want Mesut Ozil to join Arsenal
Reports in Spain suggest that Levy appealed to the partnership between the two clubs agreed as part of the Luka Modric transfer to try and stop Perez selling Ozil to Spurs' north London rival.

According to El Confidencial Levy felt "betrayed" by news that Ozil would be allowed to leave for the Gunners after enquiring about the player's availability during July and August, potentially as part of the Gareth Bale transfer.
At that time Perez told Levy that Ozil was not for sale with the player expected to remain at the Bernabeu, but the German international reportedly became increasingly as the transfer window drew to a close enabling Arsenal to snap him up.
On receiving the call from Levy, Perez reportedly politely informed the Spurs boss that a deal sending Ozil to Arsenal was all but complete.

Sky Sports news also claimed last week that Levy had a role in preventing a Madrid player joining Arsenal ahead of the north London derby, played last weekend.
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football ... rt+Feed%29
Manchester United made a last gasp attempt to snatch transfer record breaker Mesut Ozil from Arsenal’s grasp.
United made enquiries on Monday with Old Trafford boss David Moyes desperate to bring in a top quality playmaker before his deal for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera went horribly wrong.
Mirror Sport understands that desperate phone calls were made on Monday morning to see if Ozil was still available, having been offered by third party agents two weeks before.
But it was already too late as Germany midfielder Ozil, 24, had turned down a more lucrative offer from Paris Saint Germain and now it emerges that Arsenal also beat United to a deal with Real Madrid.

Whatever, I don't personally like these high transfer fees and salaries but the Ozil transfer has at least given the team and the funs a lot of hope and that itself is worth the transfer fee. It will come back in sponsor deals, shirts sales and most likely will have a positive effect on the team as well.

What I fear the most with Arsenal team are the injuries, although the first team and most of the regular 16 are now title contenders, there is no real debth in the squad beyond them.

Being a Liverpool fan my opinion would only be biased, but I think the anniversary of Shanklys birthday had an effect. Liverpool (mainly first half) just wanted it more. Having played football myself, if you come up against a team who really wants it, even if they are less skilled its almost impossible to stop them.

Arsenal,Spurs and Liverpool joint top but no reaction from their fans on the forum ??
Maybe you are all lost for words now your teams are successful......great result for Everton,as well.
If Liverpool avoid defeat at Swansea tomorrow, they will be on their own at the top so maybe we will hear from Baa Baa then ! :rasta:

You all know that I don't really follow prima donna football, but I have to say that I thought last night's Spuds performance was superb.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

Well, since you ask...

Great performance from the Spurs last night. It all looks to be coming together. Should have had more goals (should have had a sackful, really), but Soldado will get a few when people get used to working out his runs.

Eriksen was a revelation - he looks like the real thing. Nice little cameo from Lamela at the end. Decent defence - 4 games and only 1 goal conceded.

Paulinho look immense, Townsend has defenders crapping themselves, Rose has really come into his own at left back - all looks well at the moment.

Chelsea in 2 weeks will give us a better idea.

Just watched the Sunderland - Arsenal game.

Ozil looks good. World class? We'll know more when they're up against a better team. Ramsey is starting to look like a decent footballer. Walcott can run quite fast.

Arsenal were obviously the classier side, but Sunderland played surprisingly well at times during the 2nd half and could well have sneaked a draw if they'd had some luck.

I don't much like Sourface Wenger, for no particular reason other than that he happens to manage Arsenal, but I have to say Di Canio is an absolute twat.
How can we possibly expect players to respect the officials when he behaves the way he does? And it is, of course, no more than playing to the gallery. The Sunderland fans love it, but all he's doing is hiding his own shortcomings as a manager, which are becoming increasingly obvious.

Oh dear, how upsetting for Spurs fans on the forum...... :tsk:

A 61 year old IT worker has been charged with trying to perform a sexual act with a sheep outside Tottenham Hotspurs Enfield training ground a court has heard.
The state of the art training centre is based on a 77 acre site in North London and the incident took place on September 4th just two days after Gareth Bale was transferred to Real Madrid.
Andre Villas-Boas took a training session on the same day as the incident the Highbury Corner Magistrates Court heard.
Paul Lovell denies a charge of indecent exposure plus one of "trying to commit a sexual act with a sheep" and a further one of "trying to get a sheep to perform a sexual act on you." :butt:
Lovell will now be tried by jury and has been released on bail with conditions.

I just hope he's not a season ticket holder at White Hart Lane......I wonder if he had Roast Lamb for his dinner last night ? :rasta:
