Jesada Technik Museum

Post by PeteC »

I never heard of this place until I did some reading then Google searching. Not that far from Hua Hin and a goldmine of antique cars, trucks, buses, planes, boats....just about everything. See below links and do your own Google for more. Looks like a real good day out. GPS: 13-48-42.63N, 100-11-50.87E. Pete

Yes, it is a nice place. However, I don't think the start of the video does them any favours. I was thinking glorified scrap yard, and was about to switch it off when Mrs BB distracted me. When I looked back at the screen they were in the museum. Had it not been for the distraction, I would have switched of and retained a scrap yard image in my mind whenever it was mentioned in the future.

Here's another YouTube going back a few years. I haven't looked at either yet. Pete

Yes, it is an amazing place, I have been there a couple of times. Really hard place to find if you do not have GPS, or a google map.

The owner is another Thai mystery man. He (or did), works for the Government and is well qualified in engineering. Several years ago he bought an old submarine in Europe somewhere and tried to have it towed to Thailand. I think he intended to float it up a small Klong near his place. The damn thing sank on the way to Thailand and he lost the lot!

It is free entry, but I believe it may be closed one day a week, so better to check. He had a small stall at the last old car show in Bangkok and they were handing out some flyers about the place. It has been open for some years now.

It says something about a person's age when they can remember most of the exhibits in a museum

With import duty being what it is here in Thailand, it makes you wonder where many of the exhibits came from. The vehicle that got my mind on that was the disability vehicle from the UK.

Thanks for the info. Jesada is a must, any gentleman having several Citroen 2 CV's is a gentleman, indeed.

Yes, Thank you for the information as I have never heard about the place. I'm going to go just to see that lime green Bond Bug in the video above!

We finally got round to visiting this place last summer, as it's not far from where we live. I'd highly recommend it. There's even a double-decker bus from Gt.Yarmouth on display - goodness knows how he managed to get hold of that! If you're feeling hungry afterwards, there's a great restaurant not far from the museum. It's on the bend before you turn down the road to Jesada (and it's purple).

In one of those videos there is a glimpse of some aircraft in the background. The last time that I was there he had an old DC 3, a couple of helicopters and a stack of old radial engines. At that time the engines were sadly laying outside in the weather. There was also a Cessna 172, or similar, I can't remember exactly, just outside the entrance gate.

On the north side of the road there was an area that was not open to the public, but it looks like there may now be some more aircraft parked there.

He must have a big team working on and taking care of all the collection. Just keeping all the tyres inflated would be a full time job alone!

Too right! Give us some warning and we can do better than sandwiches and tea.
