What would you do ?

Post by sand_dancer »

Hypothetical of course..... BUT......

Sit back..... Close your eyes..... And imagine a Thailand that allowed you..... A Farang to run your own business.....

Free from Visa restrictions..... Work permits...... Tea money..... And any other crap that is thrown at Farang's..... Who might want to set up a legitimate business in HH.......

The Thai Government..... Having had a brainfart...... Has now realised that it is a good idea to capitalise on the vast experience of Farang's who are in Thailand on a permanent basis..... To that end..... They have decreed that any Farang who is in Thailand on a permanent basis..... And has a minimum of 2 Million Baht to invest in a business..... Can do so..... Free from any previous restrictions......

As an added bonus..... For a flat annual fee..... You can protect your business from copycat operators.....

If you meet the above criteria..... What business would YOU start and WHY......?

My starter for 10......

With the amount of gated communities in HH....... I have always thought that a window cleaning business would be fairly successful.......

Why just window cleaning? Why not go for a full service providing company? Provides gardeners, maids, cooks, masseurs, window cleaning, painting, pool cleaning, plumbing, simple woodwork etc. ;-)

I've thought the same, although a business for a Thai rather than a business for myself.

I have a pretty powerful Karcher jet water cleaner i have often thought that mounting it on a M/C and sidecar and going around cleaning mosquito mesh window screens and pebble dash drives and pathways
The power and water comes from the customer and only needs some good power extension cable and hosepipes

When all the different wheelie bins started getting introduced in Scotland.....

My brother set up a mobile wheelie bin service.... Van.... compressor and a jet washer......

He was eventually bought over by a bigger company and done very nicely for himself......

...a minimum of 2 Million Baht to invest...

Certainly 2 million baht would buy you a lot of buckets, squeegees and triangular ladders!

I thought a business meant you run it and the Thais do the work

Just a single M/C to start but it could lead to a fleet of them and cleaning windows / exteriors could include removing paint from walls before repainting etc etc
and could grow quite large if managed and advertised correctly

Would you employ a Thai if you had a free hand to employ whoever you wanted......?

That is not to say that I would not employ Thai's..... I know a few that I would have no hesitation
in employing......
and could grow quite large if managed and advertised correctly
Probably one aspect that I would not employ a Thai for........
