Anyone in business in Bangkok will have encountered some of these police or low level politicians trying to sell land. The deal suggested to me was to route all the factories purchase orders through his office, where he would add his %.

First he was offering advice about Thais, then wanting to put your business through him and sell you land, all in a one hour flight where he would have had no prior information. Also this occurred on your first visit to Thailand. One presumes his English was superb to talk about all of that in one hour to a stranger.

Ah, Mr Plum I know this is not " This Is Your Life" but do you use this forum just for personal amusement or do you wish to add value. I find it strange that you can talk about you're sons lifestyle that I believe is very personal stuff, but when challenged can't answer some basic questions.
I am proud of how I make my living and earn twice as much as my bank manager, and I am very open about the two jobs that I do nothing strange about that
I believe that this is a community not just a faceless forum and I enjoy meeting members when in town and even in the UK.

You don`t expect them to take the word of a foreigner do you? A physical examination is part of the process.

For what it`s worth here in Tunisia women are only allowed to marry a non-Muslim if .he converts, this includes a test on his knowledge of the Koran and having the snip.

It was the same in Indonesia but a couple of people I knew got married to Muslims and with it being one of the most corrupt countries in the world, it was easy to bribe an imam in the local mosque to give you the required credentials without undergoing any actual conversion.
