Question: Do I have to renew my one year "retirement" visa in Hua Hin where I have always done it, point is I may be elsewhere in Thailand when it comes due for renewal, so can it be done elsewhere within Thailand.
I know it is not called a retirement visa but everyone calls it that so no need to advise on that point.
Thanks in advance

You can try elsewhere but you'll almost certainly be referred to HH as that's where you live and where your file is.
Remember, you can extend up to 30 days early. And occasionally Imm will allow you to do things earlier than that if you can prove you'll be away at the necessary time. It's always worth asking them.
Annual extensions can be done at any time from 30 days before and up to the date indicated as your permission to stay.
It's usually advisable to apply early in case there's some documentation that you've missed. If you do, for instance, apply 3 weeks early, then you don't "lose any time". Your next year's extension will commence from when your permission to stay expires not from when the extension is applied for and granted.

I managed to renew my extension after I moved to Khon Kaen. I had only to prove my new address by showing them the necessary paperwork. Likewise when I returned to Hua Hin

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.
I just did it. The young ladies who sit outside and check that you have everything are just great. I followed my three rules--Dress well, be respectful and take a Thai friend with me--No problem.
One Airport story. I came in last Sat the line-up was long, 60min in the line. When I get to the desk, the guy says, you should go in priority line, much faster. This was before he looked at my docs and he had no idea in which part of the plane I had flown--so why this advice?. I had had a lunch appointment at Imperial College Medical School before the flight and I was wearing a white collared shirt and a suit.
There's an unwritten rule I think that those who are (or look ) elderly get picked out and sent over to the VIP lane when other lines are long. I guess they don't mind those folks just going over themselves without being told. Pete
