I've thought about it carefully, and IMHO this is a Farang Price i.e.:
6 staff for 4 days = 24 Man Days (24 Man Days to paint a small 2 bedroomed bungalow??)
24 Man Days @ 300 Baht = 7,200 Baht (14,400 Baht if doubled for generosity)
Paint - I don't know the cost of paint, but from what I've seen, it's a lot cheaper than the UK. (Over) estimate 20,000 Baht.
I can't get it to more than a very generous 35,000 Baht. That gives the guy at least 13,000 Baht for the priviledge.
I've decided that we'll do it ourselves (I'll sit back and supervise the outside areas to be safe). I'll obviously muck in with the internal areas, where nobody can see me. There is no rush, so we can do the work over an extended period. We'll get a lot more satisfaction that way, and I would guess a much better job.
Thanks to everybody for their help and advice. It is greatly appreciated. I'll probably be back with some 'silly' questions when we're about to start.
I bought some exterior paint for a wall last year and I think it was about 3,000 bt for the large sized 20 L tub. To put it on we gave a couple of the extended family from Issan a free holiday in Hua Hin!Paint - I don't know the cost of paint, but from what I've seen, it's a lot cheaper than the UK. I'll probably give my son something to do on his day off.STEVE G wrote:To put it on we gave a couple of the extended family from Issan a free holiday in Hua Hin!

We have scores of policemen driving past our place all the time on the way to the shooting range, and I've never been bothered by any of them, not ever. Having said that, I suppose you could still use it as an excuse to get out of doing the work yourself.![]()
