Does anyone know if the new border crossing near KiriKhan is open for immigration stamp yet?

Do you mean the Sinkhon Check Point close to Burma, or some other cross-point?

I read btw. on the windows to the immigration office in Hua Hin that they call this office "Sinkhon Immigration".
Not Hua hin Immigration Office?

As far as I know foreigners cannot cross the border at Singkhon (Prachuab) becuase there is no immigration on the Burmese side.

It is one of those things that has been in the pipe line for as long as I have been here. Norseman is right as usuall about Hua HIn. It is just an outstation for dan Sinkkorn. The boss lives in Hua Hin and spent every day driving 112 KM to deal with Farang who had all done the same which only benefited the gas companies.

As for opening it. There has been much development lately apparently including a new southern approach road which would be useless for any farang who lives any where but Bang Saphan Yai and Noi. Any further south and you are still nearer to Ranong. My guess is that the road is for more trucks to bring pieces of Burmese rain forest over the border to build farang houses in Phuket and Koh Samui. I believe it is the most Southern road crossing.

Buksi is part right about the Burmese Imiigration. Of course there is one but it is a hut about 500km from the Thai crosing and the other side of a ravine. It's purpose is simply to ensure that every truck that entrered Burma got out again safely with its Thai driver and was not captured by rebels who were operating in the area as little as three years ago.

Burma is one of the few countries in the world that has retrograde development so the wooden hut in time will become a mud hut and before long will be replaced by some guy with a bow and arrow hanging out in a tree.

If it is seen to be the Thai immigration as being an advantage to them they may well open it up for farang and fund the Burmese side themselves. This was done in Mae Sot and Mae Sai some years ago. At the moment though the Ranong immigration office if being funded by farang backpacker and amnesiac expats overstay fines so it would require an inter provincial battle between Prachaup and Ranong to get it open.

It would also probably make the best crossing point for Bangkok with Three Pagodas being in a similar position (i.e. only for Thai Trucks) and distancxe from the city.
