THE STATE RAILWAY of Thailand (SRT) will provide additional free train rides catering to up to 760 people per day from Bangkok to Prachuap Khiri Khan's Hua Hin district, so people can visit the Klai Kangwon Palace to offer their best wishes to His Majesty on the occasion of his birthday.
This is in addition to the previously scheduled eight free trains daily, from yesterday to tomorrow.

SRT governor Prapat Chongsanguan said His Majesty would also be granting a public audience at the palace's Rajapracha Samakhom Pavilion tomorrow on Thursday..........

A very quiet convoy of Royal cars, vans and police cars have just past the Condo Chain going south intermingled with normal traffic. Empty I presume

Rode through the center a couple of hours ago - it was a ghost town.

Traffic coming from the north is heavy.

Absolute chaos trying to drive tonight. I drove out of Soi 10 about an hour ago intending to do a U-Turn South. I soon changed my mind, and went back up Soi 6. South Bound carriageway is a car park, with traffic going nowhere. Standing traffic as far as the eye can see.

Not much chaos, of course around the palace it was a no-go but for the southern part ofHH it was a quiet day, easy parking, no cops.

I didn't try it, but are you saying Petchkasem was open towards the Southern end of town?

I heard from the wife that many will be taking a super long weekend starting yesterday and ending after the Tuesday holiday next week. The town may be full for the next few days. Pete

Traffic's still a lot heavier than normal, and there's still the odd parade going on.

Traffic was gridlocked along the canal road, the road to the railway staion was blocked off, could not turn right at the traffic lights opposite the Esso filling station and gridlocked along Petskasem road to the Bangkok hospital tonight, think the car is staying at home for a few days!
