An interesting read, and I have to agree that a bacon sarnie isn't complete without a generous spread of HP!!

When I lived in the US and was going either to the UK or Canada.I had to bring back several bottles of HP for British an Canadian friends. Later the supermarkets started to stock it--- it could be found in the international gourmet section

If you think HP brown sauce is good, try Hendersons Relish.
Its particularly good with 'meat an tatoe pie' ;-)

Ideal and Daddies used to be big too. What happened to them?

They've probably gone out of business and IMO they were never up to the standard of HP sauce - for me it was always HP for brown sauce, Heinz for tomato!!

Never heard of Ideal, but Daddies is still widely available in the UK. Many supermarkets stock it.

When I was younger I really liked OK brown sauce but it just seemed to disappear. So I was surprised to find that it's a staple in oriental and Thai stores in the UK!

Daddies is still popular.
Did you know it's a close relative of HP?, made by & sold by the same company along with Lea & Perrins Worcester sauce.

They may have been sold by HP Foods to Danone & then to Heinz but they'll always be British, they've just been adopted.

I used to be an HP and Ideal freak but now prefer L&P and Soya sauces

Ketchup is just for chips IMO

I can remember it but tried to find an image on the net but somebody had already posted that he had searched and couldn't find anything - apparently it was made by Heinz!!
