Wine Shop

Post by lomuamart »

I've been trying a wine shop on Petchkasem Road just north of soi 64. They've got a good selection of wines and some good promotions.
Got a bottle of red yesterday that should have cost 2,000 THB but was knocked down to 750. There were also bins with wines at around 300 THB if you bought 3 bottles.
I seem to have sampled most of their stock over the past couple of days!!
The promotion bottle was a 2003 Burgandy "Aric". Never heard of that one before but it was very smooth. Got a Crane Lake Pinot Grigio for 660 which was also good and a Chilean Alicanto Merlot for 580.
The shop is called The California Wine Company. The Thai lady in there speaks excellent English and is very able to offer advice on decent wines and point out promotions.
I must get back to my Chang or this shop will break my bank but it did make for a pleasant change.
I know that the prices are crazy compared to the western world but it was Xmas. I mean 2,000 THB for a bottle (OK I got it for 750) but that's around 40 GBP. Shoot the tax man.
