Restaurant at Black Mountain

Had a delicious lunch here this afternoon - best restaurant food I've had for a while.
Quality was excellent. Expensive of course, but not ridiculously so - definitely on my list for something a bit special.

Not being a golfist, I don't frequent these places but I don't live far from Black Mountain and might consider it. Do they have dress restrictions like golf clubs in some parts of the world? The ones where you can't wear jeans but you can have Rupert bear trousers and black and white tassles on your shoes!

European & Thai food, semi outdoors on balcony but great views over the golf course - very well worth a visit and great value - my choice for lunch

Fair enough. It's large - neither indoors nor outdoors, if you get my drift: a very large covered area, completely shaded but open-sided, and therefore quite chilly today, as it is quite high and open to the wind.
There is a wide range of European, Thai and Swedish food (Swedish owner and head chef), and a touch of Mexican into the bargain. The menu can be downloaded from the BM HH website (under "golf", then "club, food & sports"). There is a selection of pasta dishes as well as a full range of burgers, hotdogs, club sandwiches, salads etc.

As starters we had Thai spring rolls, grilled scallops with truffle cream sauce and asparagus, and goat's cheese on caramalised beetroot with a honey and balsamic dressing. 200 baht each.

Our main courses were grilled duck breast with fried pak choi, mushroom sauce and pommes duchesses, veal medallions of tenderloin with croquette potatoes and mushroom sauce (Mrs D-M was ecstatic) and for me poached cod fillet with pommes duchesses, truffle white wine sauce and grilled asparagus. Prices ranged from 500-700 baht.
Most Thai dishes were 150 bt.
Everything was delicious - really good. We didn't feel it necessary to examine the dessert options, but looking at the menu on line, they look good and are around 150-250 baht.

The restaurant overlooks the golf course, with stunning views (I'm not a golfist, but it is a beautiful course).

The service is as you would expect for the price: meals served at the same time, good English spoken, etc.

Not somewhere within my normal lunch budget (to say the least ), but for a special occasion or if someone else is paying, well worth the trip!
(EDIT: if you can afford to play there, you probably don't have to worry too much about the restaurant prices... )

No clothing restrictions beyond the obvious (i.e. wear some).

It's sort of in the middle of nowhere, but very well signposted and only 5 minutes from the bypass.

Thanks guys. Really sounds like it deserves a visit. Not being a golf player and having to pay extortionate fees to look for a silly little white ball, in all of the wrong places, I can probably afford to eat there from time to time.

Not sure if I'm allowed to do this on this thread, if not where can I? Been to Black Mountain Restaurant in town tonight and had one of the best meals I've ever had. Not cheap but great value for the money. Service and food first class. Not yet on trip advisor but trying to set up a review for it, and I would give it five " stars"
