Cha-Am kite festival March 8th & 9th
Re: Cha-Am kite festival March 8th & 9th
We've decided to wait until tomorrow in the hope that somebody goes today and reports the actual location. Mrs BB couldn't get a response on the phone numbers by the way

We went there today got there at 11 o'clock 2 hours too early there was kites in the air for demonstrations but the shows start at 1 o'clock until 6pm parking was easy and not too crowded, I think tomorrow might be more busier the place was quite empty compared to most weekends.
The location is at the north end of the beach where the road splits in two, hope to his helps use that are going tomorrow.

Thank you very much sticks. That is the part of the beach that we always use when we go to Cha-Am, so I know exactly where you mean

Re: Cha-Am kite festival March 8th & 9th
I went to the Kite Festival on the North Beach, Cha-Am yesterday. It was located exactly where sticks said it would be.
I'd been to the Bristol Kite Festival before, and was very disappointed, and I was worried this experience would be similar.
We arrived just before 11am, and sat at our usual location on the beach, about 100 yards South of the festival. There were already many kites airborne, and many more waiting to fly. I wandered over, and got amongst it.
The closest comparison I could make was the Bristol International Balloon Festival, but this experience was probably better. Both events are very colourful, but with balloons, they take off and are soon in the distance. These babies were flying, but they were staying put for all to see.
As the day went on, the tide went out, and it was possible to get on the kite field, although I think there was a security guy telling me off at one stage
. He spoke Thai, and I don't, so I just smiled. However, body language was telling me that he wasn't pleased. It's a shame he didn't concentrate on the thousand or so Thais who were doing the same as me - he might have been more successful.
This was a change of venue from previous years, and although IMO this was a very successful festival, it didn't have the side attractions of previous venues, All that I saw was a small tent doing something for a few kids. However, we were at the beach, and there are plenty of hawkers selling their wares anyway.
I thoroughly enjoyed the day.
