Chatuchak in Hua Hin or Cha am?
Chatuchak in Hua Hin or Cha am?
I heard that there is a Chatuchak market here. Not sure if it's open yet or under construction or where it is exactly.
If you know please let me know.

Its Hua Hin, as you go towards Cha Am on the left there is a large piece of land (24 rai I think) with an old half built/demolished building just after the Go-Kart track. That's going to be it.

Interesting bit of news - thank you!
EDIT: Just called Mrs D-M, hoping to give her an interesting snippet, but of course she already knew. Ages ago... <sigh>

I'm not in-the-know, there's a sign
Re: Chatuchak in Hua Hin or Cha am?
Any idea of when it will be built?
Re: Chatuchak in Hua Hin or Cha am?
Some construction has already started, can't be much to an open market like Chatuchak in Bangkok so I would assume it would be finished before the end of the year.
Then they just need to fill it out with store-holders which could take some time imo

From Hua Hin Today.....
A new Attraction in Hua Hin
You may have driven past the site on Petchakasem Road just north of the Airport and wondered what is going on there. There has been little fanfare about this new and significant development but the construction pace has been frantic with permanent stall buildings rapidly replacing temporary structures. Completion of the site is now in its final stages, with plenty room for parking unlike the one in Bangkok.
The 24 Rai site will contain about 700 stalls, but this market will be much more than a weekend market, being open every day from 9 am onwards.
You can expect the same variety of items available and tourism attractions that are offered in Bangkok. This includes food, clothing, souvenirs, furniture and other goods new and second hand, there is even a used car yard!

With this, floating markets, Market Village, Blu Port (eventually), Venezia, Esplanade, etc. shop keepers have a real choice with where they can locate. I wonder if rents reflect this?

If it's similar to the one in BKK, this is good news for HH residents and tourists and by the sound of it, only a month or two from opening.Bristolian wrote:From Hua Hin Today.....

If it's anything like Chatuchak Bangkok, at least it will be a real market, unlike the floating travesties, Venezia, et al.
I think this will be a very welcome addition, particularly to those of us living north of HH.
Provisionally...

Hua Hin is becoming (to Thailand) what Orlando is to Florida! That Thai Disneyland we've been hearing rumors of for years can't be far off.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

It`s already here. It`s called "The Thai Government".That Thai Disneyland we've been hearing rumors of for years can't be far off.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
Re: Chatuchak in Hua Hin or Cha am?
Aparently this market is not happening now ! we have some friends who owned a market stall there and they told us that the owners of the site havent payed their electric bill ..so its closed down for the time being .
Re: Chatuchak in Hua Hin or Cha am?
when and if it opens I don't think it will ever be as famous as the one in Bangkok
but the initial idea is good specially for this end of Huahin
