The Faculty of Management Science at Silpakorn University was established in 2002 as part of one of the top 10 universities in Thailand. It is located in Cha-am District, Petchaburi. It is 20 minutes by car to downtown Cha-am or downtown Hau Hin. (On the bypass, c. 6km north of the Pala U junction)
The Faculty is well known for the excellence of its graduate students in Business Management, Marketing, Tourism Management, Hotel Business, Community Management, and Public Administration. This is guaranteed by awards and educational organizations. Apart from theoretical knowledge and professional expertise, the Faculty also puts forward foreign language skills as one of the essential and competitive qualifications for its students in the job market. The Faculty offers a wide variety of foreign language courses such as English, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
To respond to the growing number of students in the coming academic year, which starts in August 2014, the Faculty of Management Science is now looking for 3 qualified native speakers of English to join its foreign language teaching team. Those who are interested should have qualifications as follows:
- Be a native speaker of English
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in related fields
- Having experience in teaching English to non-native speakers will be an advantage
- Applicants with TESOL, TEFL, CELTA or other certificates related to teaching are preferable
- Understanding and familiar with Thai working culture
- Be able to work hard and willing to help Thai staff when requested
All candidates will have to show a brief 2-hour lesson plan when they are asked for an interview. However, short-listed applicants with no teaching experience or teaching training certificate will be asked to demonstrate a 30-minute lesson teaching to the interviewers.
The successful applicant is expected to teach general English and English for specific purposes to Thai undergraduate students at Petchaburi IT Campus.
The salary for a person holding a bachelor’s degree is 20,780 baht, and for a person holding a master’s degree is 24,270 baht. Plus 8,000 baht accommodation allowance and extra monthly payments for university teaching experience.
The successful applicants will be responsible for a minimum of 14 teaching hours a week, and other activities if requested. I would say its the perfect fit for someone not looking for full-time employment. I guess the only flip side is how those 14 hours are spread out?
