Good news here:

The ministry also wishes to reaffirm that the Thai tourism industry remains an important part of the national economy and no action will be taken by the Council to undermine its growth and well-being. The ministry is committed to supporting the operations of the Thai tourism industry whenever possible through continuous communication and co-operation in all areas of tourism development and promotion. Further, more the Ministry will work with offices concerned to ensure the safety and convenience of all visitors traveling in Thailand.

Lets hope then that with the demise of TRT they'll lay off the foreigners for a while and concentrate on more important matters.

Don't bet on it! These guys are eager (up to a point) to remain popular, so we maybe can expect a few popularist policies -- & bashing foreigners is always popular with the man in the street, no matter where that street may be! I hope that they will be at least practical in their xenophobia but their placing limits on Tesco's expansion reveals a little of what to expect.
I'd be grateful for a repeal of the afternoon buying booze laws! :cuss:
