Practicing Tai Chi at sunrise

Post by lorinter »

Dear All, I've recently moved to Kao Tao after 20 years in Bangkok. One of the few things I miss is practicing Tai Chi at sunrise with a group of people. Is there a Tai Chi group that practices regularly around here? I've seen a school at Takiap but I don't look for lessons, just for a few people to practice together and have a chinese tea and a chat afterwards. I'm too shy to practice alone ;-)
Thank you for your attention, all the best

Hi Lorenzo,
In my dreams (in which I have looked after my body and ceased drinking and smoking and practised zen-like thoughts) tai chi is something I would seriously love to learn over time and it is near the top of my list of things I must do with my life. Sadly, I don't see it happening any time soon, and I am not aware of any activity in Khao Tao - though I will ask my neighbours as I think I remember someone talking about this not too long ago. I'll post back if any news.
(I have to say, though, moving slowly in awkward positions at sunrise brings to mind my lurching home at the end of a long night out, not the start of a bright new day. Note to self: change lifestyle.)
Sorry I'm not helping but I wish you luck with your quest.

I have been interested in finding a Tai Chi group/teacher around here for years now. Probably posted on it earlier. It is a wonderful practice at any time of day. All I ever found was classes for guests at a couple of the upper end hotels. At the time I checked, years ago, outsiders could join for 500 baht a session at one hotel.
When I took classes many years ago it was free.. for a donation. . .if one wished to donate. . .and taught more along the lines of a community service than a money making deal. I am still interested if anything turns up

Hi Lorenzo,
are you still here in HuaHin?

I practice alone, but I wonder if there's any other Taijiquan practitioners here,
to share some experience, etc. We could arrange a meeting or something :)

I am still very interested in Tai Chi Chuan and would love to find a group or someone who can lead in this short form. There are two similar threads going on here. I live north of town, and given the horrible traffic jams, which will only get worse as the "season" develops, anything that involves a trip into ( or through) town is just not going to work for me. Cha-am might.
