I had thought that a Citibank (North America) to Citigold (Thailand) transfer has no fee for a transfer, and if one has the Citigold one also obtains a favourable exchange rate. However I think to maintain a Citigold account in Thailand, one needs to keep 3-million baht in the Thai Citigold bank in one form or another of Citigold investment.

I think also, if one goes to a Citibank ATM in Bangkok, one can withdraw cash from their Citibank USA account at no charge (with a limit of around $2000 US/day).

Also for US residents (which doesn't help me in Europe as I am not a US resident) if one has a Charles Schwab Investor's checking account (which is an an e-Bank) one can access it from any ATM in the world (including Thailand) and they refund any local transaction fees. Schwab itself charges no transaction fees. Purported the exchange rates are reasonable. There is a $500 US limit a day.

I am nearing retirement and would appreciate some help to do this as cheaply as possible. I have a Kasikorn account in Hua Hin. Is it possible for my bank in Australia to deposit my pension into Kasikorn?
Speak to your pension provider or administrator and ask them if they can pay your pension direct to your Thai account.......

Mine charges a fee of approx $3 US monthly....... I get a better exchange rate than using an ATM...... And no 180 Baht ATM transaction fee......

Fees: $10 (anything over $2,000) from BKK BK NY and .025% for conversion of $ to Thai Baht in Thailand (when it reaches your account in Thailand).
Did you have to go to NYC to open the account?

Because I'm a victim of New Math, .025% on $10000 is $2.50 cents?

You do not open an account with the NYC branch, you open the account locally in Thailand (for me Hua Hin branch), then transfer the funds from your US bank to the NYC branch routing number. Then the funds instantly appear in Thai baht to your Bangkok account here.
