Re: LPGA Thread
First let me congratulate Jessica Korda for winning the Airbus LPGA Classic. Jessica defeated Anna Nordqvist by 1 stroke in another incredibly exciting LPGA finish. At one point on the back nine, six players were tied for 1st place. Jessica birdied the 18th hole to secure her victory.
I have been critical at times on this blog the past couple of years, voicing my disappointment at the results of the American players' finishes at the Solheim Cup, and especially major championships. Going into the British Open last season, Asian players had won 11 consecutive major championships. American players won only 7 times last year in 28 tournaments. There was really no reason coming into the 2014 season to think that things would dramatically change. My reasoning was the following:

Re: LPGA Thread
Before I get started with this week's tournament, let me congratulate Stacy Lewis for winning the ShopRite LPGA Classic. Stacy won it in style, pulling away at the end and winning by six strokes. It was the 4th consecutive win by an American player, and 6th in the last 7 tournaments. It was the 8th U.S. win of the young season. It will be much more difficult to keep that streak going this week as 2014 winners Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Jessica Korda, and Lizette Salas will not be in attendance.
This week the tour makes its way to Waterloo, Canada for the playing of the Manulife Financial LPGA Championship. Hee young Park won this event in 2013, with a very exciting playoff win over Angela Stanford. You can expect lots of birdies this week as Park and Stanford both shot 26 under par. You would think that playing par golf this week is not going to be good enough, as the cut last year was -3.
This will be tournament #14 of 32 on the LPGA schedule this year.

Re: LPGA Thread
The LPGA is off this week as the players prepare themselves for the U.S. Women's Open which will be played next week in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The LPGA is now entering the most important part of its schedule. Included in the next 10 tournaments will be 4 major championships and the International Crown.
I thought I would take this time to look at some of the more important statistics that have been compiled over the first fourteen events of the season:

Re: LPGA Thread
After a week off the LPGA will be moving to the state of North Carolina for the playing of the U.S Women's Open. This is the 2nd of 5 majors on the LPGA schedule.
It is also the start of the most important part of the LPGA schedule. The next ten events will bring us four major championships, the Canadian Women's Open, and the International Crown.
This week's tournament will be #15 of 32 on the 2014 LPGA schedule (the International Crown is an unofficial tournament and is not counted in the grand total).
