One of the many differences between HH and Pattaya/Jomtien is the absence of FF here. Usually older expat man with Thai partner who fall to their death from the balconies of high rise condos.
The story ( from partner) is often--- he has been very depressed in the last few days, went out on the balcony, and then he fell. Difficult to break that story. I ddon't know how many but the pattaya mail said that there had been 3 this month already. There is a joke there. Don't walk close to high rise condos, you could get hit by a FF.

A lot of reports of guys being killed after crashing on powerful high cc motorbikes too, don't get many of those reports here in sleepy Hua Hin.
More stories related to Russian deaths now as the demographic changes. Also lots of groups of Indians being drugged before being robbed. Watching Pattaya TV was always interesting. Still I don't miss it or the swimming lessons without a pool incidents. Very sad though for any deaths and yes there always was a feeling that some of those deaths weren't all suicides. I think a few years ago it was plastic bags over heads while hanging oneself, not heard about many of those deaths lately. Swallow dive seems to be in vogue.

It's been quite a common demise over there for years, maybe farangs should adopt the opinion of not being scared of heights but to be more scared of landing or better still just stay in guest houses.

It does seem to be a localized phenomenon to that area.
