Thanks for the education, HHTel. Gosh, one day I hope I'm as great as you, it must be amazing!

I hope I didn't sound condescending. I certainly didn't mean to be. I realised that you didn't know the system and I have been doing it for years. I was just sharing my experience over that time.

I bank here with KBank and the transfers each month from the UK get exchanged in Thailand. I haven't had to request this way it was done automatically. I do have to pay a transfer fee to Barclays ib the UK of about £25 and KBank take a very small percentage this end.

A little, but that probably says more about me than it does about you: no offence taken.

You're right that I didn't know the system and will certainly look into it since, as usual, there is an alternative approach and I am genuinely grateful for you pointing it out.

As far as Currencyfair is concerned, how does the peer to peer side go with respect to pound/euro? When I looked at the site you see different rates with amounts of money next to them, some very large. Do you have to buy the whole lot to get that rate or can you buy part of it?
I get paid in the UK but need living funds here in Europe so it might be worth trying as banks seem to be charging more for overseas ATM withdrawals these days.

I've only used peer-to-peer once and the other way around from you - I was being paid in Euro and needed to pay bills in the UK. You can choose to buy as much or as little of a 'lot' as you want, as far as I recall, but if you drop their team an email I'm sure they'll provide much more detailed information.

I've registered with Currencyfair and I'm just in the process of opening a Euro bank account so I'll give it a try.

I am soon to be moving to Thailand from Cyprus, I have been using CF for around 5 years now exchanging GBP to Euro sent to my Cyprus bank account. Absolutely top notch company and would and do recommend to others. The quickest exchange from bank to bank has been less than 2 hours.

I have a question for HHTel if you are still about........ are you using CF to exchange GBP to THB through the normal system or are you asking them to send it as GBP?, it may sound like a silly question but I'm good at silly questions :)

Regards
