2014 F1 Pool
Re: 2014 F1 Pool
Superbru still hasn't updated their site for the Austrian GP. I guess computers too busy with World Cup numbers. I'll post pool results once they do. Pete

Re: 2014 F1 Pool
Okay, Superbru results in. Rosberg and Hamilton finishing 1 and 2 with Bottas and Massa taking 3 and 4. I guess we need to watch Williams closely from here on out. Hamilton started from position 9, so some great driving there. Perez had the fastest lap.

Where is Silverstone in relation to London? Maybe we'll get a surprise and find that Parahandy and Vital Spark have tickets.

Around 60 odd miles north at a guess...
Be good if Parahandy could stop making picks for a round or 2!!

Re: 2014 F1 Pool
I wouldn't watch too hard. The Red Bull Ring is a very low-downforce track which played into Williams' hands as they have very good mechanical grip. I'd expect them to be back to business as usual for the next race. Monza is the only other track that springs to mind where Williams could be in for a good result.prcscct wrote:I guess we need to watch Williams closely from here on out.

After the double points fiasco, the FIA have managed to introduce yet another universally-despised rule from next year...

About the same place everything else has gone on this planet.....regulated to death.Pleng wrote:After the double points fiasco, the FIA have managed to introduce yet another universally-despised rule from next year...

Re: 2014 F1 Pool
The regulations I can deal with, it's the constant influx of gimmiks that does my head in...
Crappy tyres, drs, double points and now standing restarts.
F1 cars lost their beauty at the beginning of 2009, ok that was due to regulations but at least the racing remained.
F1 lost its soul in 2011, and it looks like that's never coming back.
I wish a couple of the drivers would jump to Indycar; don't feel like picking up a series from scratch, but would happily jump ship if I had somebody to cheer for from the outset.

I think this has been expected since last season. He's spent a ton of money with little return. Now he can focus on QPR and keeping them up in the Premiere League.

Re: 2014 F1 Pool
Some added interest to the British GP this weekend......
British Grand Prix 2014: Susie Wolff ends long wait for women drivers at Silverstone
Susie Wolff will on Friday become the first woman in 22 years to drive in a competitive session of a grand prix weekend.
The 31-year-old Scot, will take the wheel for Williams in first practice at Silverstone and will be running the same programme as Felipe Massa, allowing for a fair comparison between their speeds.
Wolff’s performance may be a decisive boost to the cause of female drivers when she drives for 90 minutes of free practice against her peers.
Formula One luminaries such as Sir Stirling Moss have doubted the ability of women drivers in the sport, with the last to race being Italian Lella Lombardi in 1976, and none has even made it as far as practice since Giovanna Amati failed to qualify for three grands prix with Brabham in 1992 before she was unceremoniously sacked and replaced by Damon Hill.
The Williams ‘development driver’, who is married to Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, drove this year’s car during in-season testing in May.

Re: 2014 F1 Pool
Kobayashi was not behind the wheel for Caterham during the 1st practice at Silverstone. Some guy named Frijns was. Can't find any story at the moment as to what's going on. Maybe Kobayashi hasn't been paid? Pete

Re: 2014 F1 Pool
"Friday Driver" - A reserve driver who is handed occasional Friday drives. Like Suzie Wolfe in the Williams (not that she got many laps in". I think Frijns has been in a few sessions so far this year, think he usually takes the place of Van Der Gerde.
Kobyashi paid for his driver this year, not the other way around! Anyway, he was back in his seat as scheduled for FP2
