A quote: "For example, did you know the Netherlands made 694 passes against Costa Rica, the most they've recorded in a single World Cup match?...."

Wonderful and interesting but I really feel badly for the person who has to sit there with a count clicker in his hand and record all of those. I would think smashing your head against a wall is more enjoyable.

However, every stat imaginable is recorded in all sports in case someone would ever want to know.....the way of the world. Pete

^ When talking stats, "Distance Covered" was one that stood out for me when mentioned during one of the last couple of matches. The following is from the official FIFA website: -

^ Yeah, I can't even imagine how they go about collecting such data. Maybe the players have mini GPS devices in their shoes?

Not a joke, they have tracking devices stitched into their shirts!

Take a look at this report - rugby, but no doubt also in (or taken from) Wendyball [EDIT] Actually noticed Football (sorry, Wendyball) forbids their use apparently - although maybe different now (?): -

I tend to agree.Neymar and Thiago Silva will be a big miss for Brazil and the Dutch seem to have gone off the boil a bit in the last two games.
But having only predicted 1 correct in the 4 quarter finals  what do I know ?

Hey,what a masterstroke by Van Gaal bringing on Krul as a goalkeeping substitute. You couldnt imagine the likes of Hodgson or Moyes doing that, could you ?

HOLY COW! 4-0 Germany at the 26 minute mark of the 1st half. I don't know if Brazil even has the will to go on?

....28 minutes and 5-0.

I honestly was quite looking forward to this match ( ), wrongly expecting a close game - actually predicting penalties!!

I realise Brazil have players missing, but this is ridiculous - no disrespect to Germany, but Brazil are quite simply cr@p.....

5-0 at half-time, who's going to bet on double figures!!

[EDIT] 179 seconds between Germany's 2nd and 4th goals

Fans' reaction is not going to be good....... I imagine the security firms will do quite well out of it though after the coming death threats!!

Tons of commentary going on live on the BBC. Some very good analysis and appropriate talk by ex-players, except for the below useless jerk!! :cuss:

Wales have had a few decent Wendyball players and intellectuals..... unfortunately, Robbie Savage is a long way from being either.

6-0 now at about the 25 minute mark of the 2nd half. Germany has been trying NOT to score in this second half IMO. 3-4 good opportunities and they just took the ball out to the backs. However, Muller has been getting hammered with cheap shots the entire match. Finally I think Ruiz (correction: Dante) given a yellow card and Muller had enough of the "going easy".....he scored #6 a minute later.

....7-0. All Germany can do now not to score is just sit down and give Brazil the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Brazilian players blow a gasket soon....but what can Germany do?

7-1. Brazil got one back with a minute to go. They save some face.
