Re: History Challenge
I am not sure if these Empires predate WW1 but they are still in existence showing movies in Basildon, Birmingham Great Park, Sutton Coldfield, Bishop's Stortford, Bromley etc..

So I guess that the large areas of SE Asia, bits of Africa, and bits of S America and the odd island chain here and there France controlled pre WW1 would qualify them as an Empire, even without a proper Emperor. Still.. ..what do you expect. They are French after allThe term empire is derived from the Latin imperium (power, authority). Politically, an empire is a geographically extensive group of states and peoples (ethnic groups) united and ruled by a central authority either by a monarch (emperor, empress) or an oligarchy.

Re: History Challenge
What are diverse bunch of countries. Everything from Sweden to the Marshall islands Its probably something as Sandman as they not signatories to a body such as the Whaling Commission.
Re: History Challenge
Most of these places are somewhere I would want to book a holiday
Is it places in the world that Britain did not want when building the "Empire"?

and the big chocolate cake of love goes to Richard!
That map shows the countries in the world that, at some point in history, Britain has invaded. The 22 (21 on the map and an island chain in the mid Pacific we missed) countries in white have never had a taste of British Steel. All the rest have. That means at some point or another Britain invaded around 90% of the counties in the world. The other 10% were lucky and were spared as it was tea time, or we ran out of crumpets, or our rough shag went dry

A difficult time sandwiched between two far more difficult times.
Several dark days followed by several dark years.
One would think we'd learn, but it was to happen again and again.
What was this event?

OK I'll give it a go!
I am most well known, and believed, by the masses, to have done two things that I really wasn't the first to do. I did improve on the process though and gave people what they wanted.
BONUS HELP
I was also very anti Semitic, despite my intelligence

The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
