I read in another forum the police in Chiang Mai attacked against digital nomads, i.e. people earning their living sitting at a computer doing his job from wherever in the world they want. Later it showed it was a misunderstanding since police believed the detainees were employed at the premises, an "office hotel".
Some still claims it is illegal to be a "digital nomad" if you work from Thailand without a work permit.
Anyone know?
Do Digital Nomads need a work permit?

If you actually read the relevant This law, even someone who answered a works email whilst on holiday in Thailand for two weeks would be breaking it. Like most laws in Thailand, it's up to the enforcers to decide how they want to apply it on any particular day, as the article above suggests.
