My daughter was telling me that one friends house needs new furniture most years. So I guess that they may have partially solved the problem, but it still exists in places.

Having said the above, they are digging a couple of HUGE holes at the railway end - I don't know if that is anything to do with drainage.
I am one of the people that said that I live on Soi102 and have never been flooded
That is still the case! I have been here seven and a half years now, and at no point as benmo quotes have we ever been flooded. Previous comments almost imply that people are deliberately telling lies about this!!

Soi 102 is a really long road, and it is a small section that has had floodwater. The properties on the left, as you drive up from the main road have had some flooding, but properties on the right have not at any time.

The area that is known a Nong Khae village, is the lowest lying point, and there are problems there ...but this is not Soi 102, even though many think it is.

The recent rains have brought flooding all round Hua Hin town, Petchkasem road, Soi 88, Soi 94 ..from the photos posted on my friends facebook pages, and from what I have seen from my travelling around town, Soi 102 has fared better than some places, with the torrential downpours we had just experienced

I will add that the road and drainage improvements are not as good as one would have expected...
As we had had no flooding prior to them, we thought there would be fewer problems for others after their completion.. so that is a disappointment

Lets hope the big hole... can help the less fortunate few

I reckon we've had 7-8 inches where I am since Monday evening, I've had to dump water from my pool 8 times and it is still close to the top. The dirt approach road outside our property has sunk in a number of places where they dug a trench to lay the waste-water pipe and currently not useable. Here's hoping that the rain eases back today.

^ I don't know. The more I look at the % rain and expected amounts for there and here, the more it increases and prolongs. Look at the below chart for rain/temp/pressure etc., about half way down the page. It seems you'll be wet at least through Sunday. Pete

Doesn't look very promising then, although at the moment we are down to very light drizzle.

I sure it's due to the weather, but the Internet has been off more than its been on the last 2 days,so it was a pleasant surprise to find it working this morning..........but for how long?

"Hua Hin monitors flood situation"

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 7 October 2014 (NNT) – Hua Hin municipality is now monitoring the flood situation in the area, due to ongoing rain.

Today overcast weather still covers Prachuab Khiri Khan province, following rainfall for two consecutive days. The rain caused floods in low lying areas of Hua Hin municipality, especially in Phongnet village, and Soi Hua Hin 102 where floods happen regularly.

The flood situation was resolved after the Disaster Prevention And Mitigation Provincial Office District 12 installed a high-pressure water pump at the entrance to the village. The water level was reduced to normal but the situation must be monitored for 24 hours.

"Armed forces from Fort Thanarat infantry center helped people in the area move their belongings up high enough and away from the flood. Meanwhile, Prachuab Khiri Khan Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul has checked the area and ordered the removal of water hyacinth and other weeds from canals to speed up the drainage of flood water."

Sorry, missed it. I've stopped reading posts by moderators in the fear that they are about a small local football team... :neener:

If you go to the following link, click on the synoptic chart and it will open in another larger window. There is a huge low pressure trough extending from the South China Sea, across Southern Vietnam, Cambodia and Southern Thailand right out to the west in the Andaman Sea. It is still being influenced by the huge high pressure area over and to the East of China.

Along the trough line is a series of intense low pressure cells, and that is where the rain is coming from in the south and west of Thailand. In Bangkok at this time, it is overcast with a big buildup of storm clouds out to the east past the airport, but no rain where I am.

or this:
http://www.tmd.go.th/programs/uploads/m ... art_07.jpg

The wind flow is clockwise around the high pressure, and anti-clockwise around the lows.

Thanks Nereus, that explain things. On those charts I also see a circulating storm west of southern Thailand, but I think moving away towards India. Pete

That cell is pretty much stationary just now, as it is still under the influence of what remains of the SW Monsoon. The high pressure over China is showing a ridge towards the south west, and if that continues it will block the SW Monsoon altogether. A bit strange really. Also a huge low pressure trough over West Australia that is unusal.

Alos shown on that synoptic chart is a developing typhoon east of the Phillipines. It will probably head north towards Japan, but a storm of that size will have some influence here.

The biggest storm of the year is coming

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/252 ... is-coming/

An enormous storm in the Western Pacific rapidly strengthened overnight into the year's most powerful super typhoon.

Super Typhoon Vongfong reached sustained winds of 250 kph this morning, with gusts of up to 306 kph according to the US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, reports AP.

Satellite estimates from the Japan Meteorological Agency suggest the massive storm's central pressure dropped to 905 millibars, making it the most intense storm of any kind this year, according to The Washington Post.
