Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
I understand there are Mermaid Cruises, they do an excellent job providing sustainable transportation and showing the beauty of the gulf.
Yet there's the problem. No higher-end luxury yachts in Hua Hin providing day trips a bit more elaborate than what's available.
No market?
Not a good enough marina?
Why no yachting culture in Hua Hin?
The sea's too shallow? No blue water and nice beaches?
What do you guys think?
I'd really like to book a group on a nice, not too slow boat, but nothing available.

Re: Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
I think no marina in Hua Hin is the best answer although it could be "all of the above".
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
You yourself hhfarang, would you never look at such a yacht trip because of "all of the above"?
Re: Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
I think the fact that there's no marina is the biggest factor, as Hhf suggests. High end luxury yachts are often privately owned vessels chartered out to offset the cost of upkeep but without a marina, there aren't going to be any of those around and those kind of boats are far too expensive to buy purely as a business venture.

Yeah, I'm not much of a yachter, yachtist, yachtee...seasides wrote:You yourself hhfarang, would you never look at such a yacht trip because of "all of the above"?

The closest I've ever been to that is a day trip on a couple of friends sailboats (got bored fast), several multi-day trips on livaboards for the purpose of scuba diving

Contact Barry at Mermaid Cruises, he might be able to help you. There's a nice yacht often tied at his marina that could offer you what you want.

Still wonder, why no market for it?!
Re: Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
They would have to rebuild the pier and make some yacht slips. For now, even though it doesn't seem like it any longer, Hua Hin is still a fishing port, not one for pleasure craft.

Lot's of yacht rentals here in California. Usually rented by companies for parties/marketing. Private parties also rent, but pretty costly. Perhaps not a market for it in HH

I think it comes down to that, no market for it. I'm not a yacht person, but if I wanted to go out on a day trip, one of the things that would add to the pleasure would be the ability to see the marine life - in the HH area all you would see is cloudy water and floating debris.migrant wrote:Lot's of yacht rentals here in California. On the other hand, the water on the other side of the gulf around Pattaya isn't much nicer, yet they have a nice marina and lots of pleasure cruising. Yes, they have more islands, but you don't take a yacht trip around Pattaya for the blue water and snorkeling.Dannie Boy wrote:I think it comes down to that, no market for it. Re: Why no yacht day trips in Hua Hin?
Yes but there are still two main reasons why not, Pattaya probably has five times as many tourists/expats as HH has and there is no existing infrastructure in HH, so whose going to invest millions of bahts to provide one when at best, they might get enough customers for three months of the year?seasides wrote:On the other hand, the water on the other side of the gulf around Pattaya isn't much nicer, yet they have a nice marina and lots of pleasure cruising. You could maybe ask the owners of Venezia, they seem to like doing things like that!so whose going to invest millions of bahts to provide one when at best, they might get enough customers for three months of the year?

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
