Travel insurance for over 65s.

Post by fach3003 »

hi....looking for advice.

my folks are coming over for 72 days...In late November
got a good deal on flights...

then went to sort their travel insurance.
My mam Just 70 when she is here...one of the reasons there coming...
along with being xmas time and seeing their grandson... :D

but there have had a shocker as the insurance quotes are as much
as their flight tickets...and alot of companies only cover for 30days!

Any advice...??? what do people over 65 plus do ?

Thanks in advance :D

Where are your folks from? Different countries have different rates.

To get insurance cover, it is normally only available from the country you are travelling from, or the country you are travelling to - so I don't think you can shop around "on the high sea" for cheap insurance.

My folks are from...the Uk. Geordieland.

Thanks for the advice. Their in a right quandry what to do...

Change the flight to 30 days...and get insurance.
Stay 72 days and take a gamble.
Im sure the insurance company would find away out of paying out
if anything happened anyhow. Just my opinion of course : ) !

My wifes' mother comes over every year from UK. Last year she was 87. and got her insurance from
the Post Office. I would think that only 70 shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I think that many insurers don't cover or hike the costs up when visiting a country under marshal law as Thailand still is.
Maybe that has something to with it?

My Mum has visited a couple of times and I cant remember her insurers, but it sure wasn't Saga...one of the most expensive quotes she got. Maybe it was the Post Office one. She is 85.

Did you try Insurethailand (formerly AA Insurance), as BB mentioned they provide a lot of policies to expats and get very favourable comments?
