Fishing equipment & where to go fishing

Post by ahosweden »

My first post on HHF, i just moved here from bangkok and loving it this far, and the forum have helped me alot, thanx for that!
I have just a few questions that maby someone could help me with!
Im in need of some fishing equipment, nothing fancy.. just something that wont fall apart..
is there any good shops in HH?

Im not a big fan of the resort fishing places, i just like to pass some time now and then.. relax and remember that im not in big Bangkok anymore :P

Ive seen locals driving around with their equipment, near the beach area, where do they go fishing?

thax!

There is a half decent tackle and bait shop just past the Tesco Express on Pala U Rd as you go out of town. There are also a couple of shops on Chomsin Rd near the day market. Not much to catch in the sea here in HH.

As to where to fish....here's one thread for Cha-am. I recall seeing others about surf/jetty fishing closer to Hua Hin but cant find them at the moment. Use the search function for "fishing" and as you sort through it you may find more. Pete

You can fish off the pier in town. Take a cooler of your favorite drink and a chair, sit back and relax. Day or night time.

The biggest problem with the resort fishing places is that you always tend to catch something

They're great fun, but like you, I also just like to relax quietly next to the ocean or on the bank of a big river or loch.

I've heard mixed reports about the pier in Hua-Hin, but have not tried fishing there myself yet.

Hi,
There is a place call CHA AM fishing farm, when you come from HH
go past Cha am and take Bangkok road, after a few kilos you will
see Santorini park on your left, then Factory Outlet, 4 km from
there, on your left is the entry to that place.
It is not easy to spot but if you get to a gas station (still on your left) you probably
went too far (there is a shop with outdoor Thaï wooden furnitures right at the corner)
As a teaser I went there 3 days ago and looked a german guy taking a 33 kg catfish !
Have a good one !

You might want to swing by Jings guest house (soi Salakem) and try and catch Peter the owner. He has a few regular stayers there that often rent a boat and go out into the gulf fishing. If he's not there I'm sure his lady Jing will give you his telephone number.

I don't think he's into 'organised guarantee a catch' places. Off a pier, on a boat or on the beach seems more of what he's after

He was after it almost 3 yeas ago. Hopefully he's caught something by now? The first message of the day was a plug for the Cha Am place without a doubt. Pete

Does anyone have knowledge about fresh water fishing at Pran Buri or Sam Phan Nam river?
