The closest crossing would be in Ranong and over to Burma

I have an English friend who needs to do a border-run..(He'd like to stay 2 more weeks)..can this type of re-entry be done at Phu Nam Rong..? Or will he have to go down to Ranong..?
(He has no visa in in passport & entered the kingdom as a tourist, & his 30days are up on Saturday)

Thanks for any info in advance..

Did he enter on a visa exemption? If yes is he on his first 30 days? If yes to that then I think with the new rules he can get another 30 days at immigration. You can find these rules posted on TV also but I didn't want to link that. This info is from the Internet so you never know if it's still good or not so I would call immigration and make sure. Let us know what they say.

Passport holders from 49 nations, including the United States, do not need to apply for a visa to enter Thailand. Instead, travelers from these nations receive a visa-exempt stamp upon arrival which grants them 30 days in the country. Under the new rule, tourists can now obtain a one-time, 30-day extension stamp when their initial 30 days expires by visiting an immigration office. The extension will be granted same-day and costs $59 (1,900 baht).
