News of the Weird - this just in!
Re: News of the Weird - this just in!
I can definitely see how it would distract drivers though, especially on the first day.

Here you go.
Restores my faith that there's still fun and craziness out there. No....the TV is not against the windshield in the front, but a back seat fold down screen. Optical illusion in 1 or 2 photos making it look like it is in the front. Pete

Pub run pilot charged
https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/offbe ... t-charged/
A Newman man who taxied a plane to the local pub has been charged over the incident.
The 37-year-old man took his wingless Beechcraft two-seater aircraft down the main street on Friday to the amusement of bystanders who clamoured to take pictures with mobile phones.
The pilot then went in the pub and ordered a cold one.

Re: News of the Weird - this just in!
I remember huge snowstorms from my time in Michigan and Maine. Both states can handle the snow quickly, but even at 60" it takes time. Places not well versed can be tied up for days!
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
Re: News of the Weird - this just in!
^ ^ More about the crazy storm above from the BBC. Good pic of the snow being caused by cold air passing over warmer water i.e., the "lake effect". In the Spring you get the same for the opposite reason, warmer air passing over a frozen/colder lake.

^ 7 feet of snow and counting in the area as of Thursday. More bad news is that within days the temps will go above freezing and there will be flooding....massive flooding, and rain.
Stay tuned. Pete

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

A "tasteful" reminder for those who favour cremation........
* Cremation company in Vermont offers 3D printed urns the same size as a person’s head, including realistic details such as freckles and stubble
* It's made a bust of Barack Obama to show how realistic they can be
* Facial recognition software is used to analyse a photo of a person
* Extracted data is used to create a 3D computer model, which is printed
* Wigs can be created for busts of people with longer hair
Celebrate life in a most personal style and create a perfect replica of that special someone!
Now we can create a custom cremation urn for ashes in the image of your loved one or favorite celebrity or hero, even President Obama! When it comes to cremation urns, there are countless styles to choose from. You can select a lovely wooden box that would look stunning on the mantle, or you can opt for traditional metal urns. However, there is another option available that you might not be aware of. With personal urns, you can have a lifelike bust of your loved one that doubles as an urn for the ashes. For people with longer hair we will use a wig to match. Shorter hair can be made as part of the urn itself. A solid brass nameplate is available. We are sorry, but we cannot make personal urns for pets.
The urns are created using the latest technology to create a perfect likeness of the deceased. Using pictures and special facial recognition software we can transform your favorite two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional sculpture that captures the finest details. They only need one or two photos to create the likeness, and it can even erase blemishes so they will look their best for all eternity. You will never again have to worry that you might forget what your loved one looked like when you invest in one of these custom made very lifelike cremation urns.

Concerning the second event listed, how will the family history read?
BEIJING (AFP) - A cesspool filled with excrement has exploded in central China, injuring 15 people and knocking down a building, state-run media reported.
The blast was apparently sparked by a local man burning waste close to the cesspool, igniting methane gas which was emanating from the pit, the Xinhua news agency said late on Sunday.
The incident in Zhangjiajie city, in the central province of Hunan, caused a residential building to collapse and three of the injured had to be hospitalised, Xinhua said.
China’s urban infrastructure has often been hastily built with little regard for safety as hundreds of millions of people have moved from the countryside to cities in recent decades.
In another excrement-related incident, a man and his mother both died trying to retrieve his wife’s new mobile phone -- worth 2,000 yuan ($320) -- from a toilet septic tank, reports said in May.
The man jumped in to try to locate the phone but was overcome by fumes and passed out, according to Dahe, a web portal run by the provincial government in central Henan province.
