Moon Light Bar

Post by Felipesed »

After 4 weeks living in Pranburi, having moved from Chiangmai, we went to find some live music in Huahin last night.

Went to El Murphys first as I read the Stonehead Band were playing there. They were not, another group called Fusionhead. Guitarist OK, but the other band members not that special.

Then went to Moon Light Bar; had to ignore the "distractions" on the way as the wife was with me!

An excellent band called Supertune were playing. Very good guitarist, well backed up by his bass player and drummer.

They played a very good mix of rock from Deep Purple, Black Sabbath to AC/DC.

Was talking to the band afterwards, and we share very similar musical tastes, blues especially.

Apparently they are playing there most nights, from 9pm, and are well worth going to see.

Also friendly bar staff, and not expensive.

A good night out!

Sorry, just went for the music!

Also had wife and daughter with me, which curtails that type of observation.

Actually, thinking back, I did not see any obvious " bar girls".

Last time I was in this bar with my wife she found the begging children a nuisance. Isn't this something the bar owner should deal with?

^^ not uncommon in bars and discos frequented by young Thai 'gunslingers' and a mix of army and police although usually in places west across the railway lines

Moonlight has been up for sale for years, they are asking way too much for it. Wouldn't expect to see a change any time soon

The guy that owns it ( thai) has several bars and a disco in ' the Dark side' ..... So I don't think he's short of a bob or two! Actually seems like a nice chap, but with these sort of business interests I wouldn't like to cross him.
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

is this correct? the last time i was in this bar, it looked like a old folks home, with the nurses dressed as Thai hookers.

The "bikers" all looked like posers. Where I come from, (the home of the Hells Angels) we have real outlaw bikers.

As far as I am aware their was one shooting there in the last couple of years Thai on Thai nothing for farangs to get to excited about.
I have observed this bar for years staying across the soi at Jings and always very quiet in there until the Stone Head band started playing there last year with a very delightful Philipino lady as a warm up singer had a nice chat with her whilst waiting for the mrs to come out of the salon a few doors up.

It's not really the Wild West or anything to worry about.
Is Bangkok a place or a nasty injury.......Eric Morcombe.

I think the owners of Moonlight also have business interests in the Jean Olives night club near Mai Tai.
