Cyclists - I need your advice

Post by Ratsima »

I have a condo in Cha Am and would like to buy a bicycle to keep there.

I live in Korat and have had a Trek 4300 for about ten years. This is fine for the mostly-off-road cycling I do around here.

However, for Cha Am I want something a bit lighter; perhaps a hybrid of some sort. I definitely do not want a tiny-tire road bike.

Price should be not more than about 15K baht.

Any suggestions on what and where to buy?

As you travel from CA towards HH after reaching Thai Watsadu continue for a further 3-4 km's and on your right is a bike shop with a full range of bikes. Can't remember the name but I bought a bike from there and the guy was very helpful in getting it set up correctly, including raising the height of the handlebars.

It's called "Hua-Hin Bike. They now have a bike attached to the wall outside that serves as a banner/prop so very easy to spot the place. You're correct, the guy that works there (I think the son of the owner) is very helpful and an avid cyclist himself. By far the best bike shop in town.

This is the 'Hua Hin Bike' shop:
Hua Hin Bike

I think the wooden panel where the sign is located is now an orange colour and not white.
There is a decent selection of all bikes, tools and accessories and I believe the lady owner can order if you want something not on show.
This is the only bike shop I've used and quite happy with the products/service.

There is also the LA Sales & Service shop further South, closer to the center. Never been there.

This is the location of Velo Bikes Hua Hin. Haven't ventured into this place but comes recommended by Usual Suspect. Located next to the Cicada market just past the fly-over going South into Koh Takiab.

Also on the P/kasem, coming from CA just after you pass the first big entrance to the Army/Police camp on your left you will see NIMIT BIKE (032-890144 and 082-2358855) on your right .

The lady there is very helpful... You will find the more expensive bikes towards the back of the shop. Also they have a very good selection of accessories/parts.

And this is the shop I was referring to, not Hua Hin Bike as mentioned by Takiap.

Not sure why this is in Events & Activities as it is a question?

This place is the shop Dannie Boy posted about, and I have also posted about it in the past, and I do not even own a bike. From Cha-Am it is just about opposite the entrance to the old Palace, so you would need to go to the next u-turn south of that.

12.42.175 / 099.57.188 -I have a phone number, pm if you need it. It may be worth somebody asking them to advertise on here.
