Lawyer recommendation
Hi All,
My (soon to be) Thai wife here in the states has been here 10 years. She owns some land in Tha Am (outside Cha Am) and was recently approached by a relative to buy some more.
She would like to, but due to work constraints, she can not get over to Thailand.
She loves the relatives, but is suitable cautious and wants to ensure all is on the level before she pays the money, and that the recording goes correctly.
We went to the Thai embassy here in California, but they said it had to be done there.
Anyone have a good lawyer recommendation over there that she can rely on?
Thanks!

Renewing this one
Hi all,
I am renewing this thread, rather than starting another one. Can anyone refer me to a good (and REAL) Lawyer/Solicitor either in Hua Hin or Elsewhere in Thailand? I am going to need one real soon, I think, for Farang versus Farang.
If HHAD does not allow this sort of reply PLEASE PM me.
Thanks

GOOD lawyer in Hua Hin
I have just bought a house in Hua Hin and I can highly recommend our lawyer. Their details are as follows: Siam Firm 13/59 Soi huahin 47/1 Petkasem Road, Hua Hin Prajuabkirkhan 7110. Tel: 66(32)531508 -edited- They also have a branch in Bangkok. I have found them to be very honest and Mr Somsak Chopaka speaks very good English.

Rene Philippe are BKK based and have offices in several locations in TH including Hua Hin
I have never had need to deal with them personly but they do seem to cover every thing from basic law to property
take a look at the site or cotact them directly for advice..

If you are spreading your net to include Bangkok-based lawyers, I can recommend Chandler and Thong-Ek (-edit-) and ILCT (-edit-).
These two firms have been offering multinational legal services in Thailand for more than 25 years, and have both Thai and farang partners.
I have used both in the past, mainly to represent corporate entities, and found them to be excellent. But please be advised they charge US prices.

One really cannot be too careful out here.
In an earlier life I was in the private equity business in Asia, taking ownership positions in unlisted companies on behalf of a fund. In one instance in a country that shall not be named (not Thailand) we engaged a supposedly respectable law firm to represent us in our share purchase.
We subsequently discovered that their first act was to sit down with the seller, a local firm, and negotiate a side deal to cause us to pay a premium price, with the premium going mostly to the lawyer.
We never did the deal, and we never paid the lawyer.
I'm not necessarily saying that you get what you pay for, just that you cannot be too careful.
