I particularly liked the early response from the FIFA communications officer, who said something like "This is good for us. It shows we're on the right track."

Putin has said that it is all a USA plot to take the WC away from Russia. But the FBI are not investigating the allocation of the WC, that is down to the Swiss authorities.
I`ve just seen Blather give hip opening speech to the Congress, basically it`s not his fault, he couldn`t possibly oversee everything, but he will ensure it never happens again. Skin like a rhino, unbelievable.

One thing that amazes me (and I was certainly not aware of previously) is that FIFA is a registered charity organisation!!
Is this some kind of tax avoidance?
Seems now up to 14 top FIFA officials have been indicted......... and the vote still goes on today

The block votes of Africa and Asia should carry him through, seems they have a different view of corruption.
Re: Swiss police arrests Fifa officials in Zurich
Blatter should just do the decent thing and resign or 'let go'............he's been involved in this all way to long. It kind of reminds me of Zimbabwe with Rob Mugabe running the place at almost 90 years old.....come on.
Time to move on Mr. Blatter...........can't actually believe he's still in charge considering the PC BS that is the status quo now in the modern world.
Blatter is a dictator from the old world that needs to be freed from this situation.
Ridiculous that this dinosaur is still in charge. If it was any other institution in Europe or the EU he would have been dismissed ages ago or they would be pouring scorn over it left, right and center.
I can only think that there are so many skeletons in the closet that he [Blatter] dare not resign despite FIFA desperately needing a new set of controllers and direction deciders for the establishment.
FIFA...more corrupt than an Indian police station.

Fascinating how such an innocuous remark can sound so ominous when made by the wrong person. In his victory speech, Mr Blatter said: "I am the president now, the president of everybody."

Well well, perhaps the rats have been squealing. Will there be a new election, will it take place in Zurich, will some delegates be willing to attend amid fears of extradition. Will Russia and Qatar games take place. Can`t wait to see what happens next. What about a proper job for Prince William just as his Auntie Anne shook up the Olympics Committee when she was a member.

About time the old git went
How anyone can sit on top of that stack of corruption for so long and not know what's going on beggars belief.
He's either as corrupt (or more) as the rest of them or incredibly stupid. Can't be the last one as he's lasted so long.
Can't wait for the outcome.

Re: Swiss police arrests Fifa officials in Zurich
I'm a mite curious as to why he's chosen now to resign, so soon after being re-elected for 4 years. Some new skeleton waved at him perhaps?
What I really don't understand is why, at nearly 80 years of age, he'd choose to put himself through all this self-inflicted hassle over the last few years instead of enjoying his ill-gotten gains on a beach in Switzerland South America.
He and those like him must be so addicted to 'power' for its own sake that they just can't give it up. For example, when did you last hear of a forum moderator resigning?

Yes,its great news.
Its also rumoured now that South Africa paid a bung to stage the 2010 World Cup.
I think these guys are so corrupt they think they will never get caught.....
If it eventually comes to trial, nature may well have taken its course with old Blatter as he's 79 now.
True,Big Boy has the power but admitting to supporting Plymouth Argyle is very brave !
