Well I did try to elevate your dining habits, but alas, a waste of time.

Richard, the F & C shop near the pier (Hilton/Chinese temple) is called Gobs but I understand the lady who ran it passed away recently so not sure if it is still operating.

No that used to be Richards place but it's not the one I was referring to. I'm thinking of the up market tourist joint along that soi to the pier. On the left as you go round the bend into Chomsin?. Buff something or other

At long last............................... my son has just got back from buying a fish, chips and mushy pea take-away from Victoria. It smells good, and looks like the real thing. Will report back when finished.

Well, it was the real thing. Best fish & chips I've had in Thailand. The mushy peas were authentic as well. it was delicious.

At 200 Baht for fish, chip & mushies i didn't think it was over-priced. Portion size was way too much for me, not that my son was complaining - I managed 50%, but ate all of my peas  However, thinking back to my (over) eating days, I'd have probably needed 2 portions, but I was a pig

It reminded me of Saturday night/early Sunday morning down Union Street in Plymouth before getting the taxi home. Sweet memories, and I will definitely do it again :munch:

That's because over half of the expats in Hua Hin (actually Thailand) are British... (or from former British empire countries that consider fish 'n chips a national dish).
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Mushy peas are like Marmite, you either love them or hate them - sorry BB but I'm in the hate camp but love a nice plate of F&C's
