TransferWise Ltd (GB)..Anybody Used?

Hi All,

Is there anyone on the forum who has used, or intends to use, TransferWise for international money transfers online from UK to Thailand or anywhere overseas?

I am currently using a company called HiFX online for sending money to my account in HH, which worked out cheaper than my former method with Barclays Telephone banking, but obviously I am constantly looking for ways to tighten the belt. TransferWise claim to be much cheaper by matching your money transfer with someone sending in the other direction, which intrigues me.

I don't think you'll get a much better rate than the local bank's TT exchange rate if you send GBP direct to a baht account (so that local bank does the exchange). GB bank's charges are an added charge. I think e.g. HSBC charges GBP 4.00. Others may be more or less.
