So, is 50 the magic number if a person does not want to have to deal with constant visa hassles? It certainly seems so to me.
If a person is under 50 years old and is not married to a Thai, and does want to become a Thai Language student at some fly-by-night school what visa is available to them that would allow them to stay in Thailand for 1 year and do the required 90-day report to immigration online.
I really don't understand why Thailand constantly caters to a bunch of shady old men.
It seems to me that there is an intentional and concerted effort to scam and/or get rid of foreigners who are under the age of 50 when it pertains to visas for Thailand.
the govt assumes if you are over 50 you have enough money to live here on a pension or self funded retirement, like most countries it doesn't want to attract 'white skin refugees' who cant afford to live in their own countries, hence the 65000bht a month requirement to stay here.
For those under 50 you can purchase a thai elite card.

That is extremely STUPID! There are a lot of foreigners that are over the age of 50 that can't afford to live in their own countries as well. Are those foreigners living in Thailand that are over the age of 50 and 'retired' also 'white skin refugees' or does just being over the age of 50 make a foreigner exempt from being a 'white skin refugee'?

No, they don't assume... They (as you eluded to later in your post) require proof. So if they need proof that you're able to support yourself financially, what difference does one's age make?

Probably not a good idea to be linking to that particular scam

Visas are a pain at the moment! I just seem to get settled with something that works for me and they change the rules. I'm 51, work part time in the UK on a 2 month on then 2-3 months here rotation! I have just got a new passport, but my old one had about 6 different types of Thai visa in it!
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

they still have to show funds to qualify for a visa, the age qualification,i guess is just an assumption that ppl under 50 aren't retired

I'm just using a little bit of common sense here, but maybe there should be a visa for foreigners that are under the age of 50 that only has a 65000bht a month requirement to stay here in Thailand also.
