Jet skiing rector missing near Hua Hin

Post by buksida »

The rector designate of Kasetsart University, Assoc Prof Bordin Rassameethes, is missing after taking part in a provincial jet ski event from Chon Buri to Hua Hin on Sunday.

Pol Col Chaiyakorn Sriladaecho of Hua Hin police station said Assoc Prof Bordin joined a group of about 50 jet skiers who set off on the 110-kilometre journey from Toey Ngam, the most famous beach in Sattahip, in the morning.

All jet skiers made it to the destination at Supatra Hua Hin Resort in Prachuap Khiri Khan at about 1pm except Assoc Prof Bordin.

A fishing boat later found his jet ski with the engine still running about 17 nautical miles off Paknam Pran (Pran Buri river mouth), just south of Hua Hin.

Aerial and water searches were launched in the afternoon and as off 10pm had failed to locate Assoc Prof Bordin. Searches in some locations were suspended as police and rescue workers discussed plans to resume operations at first light, Pol Col Chaiyakorn said.

Left to flounder whilst the Jet Ski surges on?? Don't these things come with a "Kill Switch" so if you are thrown off the engine is cut? Problem with the Jet Ski or did he not connect the switch??

Yes he should have had a lanyard attached to his wrist and the other end to a kill switch.
I think its strange that these jet skier's didn't stay in small groups.
Is Bangkok a place or a nasty injury.......Eric Morcombe.

When doing such an offshore run, how stupid does one have to be not to have, in addition to a kill switch, a PFD (personal flotation device) stocked with devices capable of signaling by light, mirror, smoke and dye?
