Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
Be wary of the watch/clock/key cutting shop in CA on the south side of the road leading from the P/kasem down to the day market - marked by a large Solex sign...
Last year, I bought a Seiko automatic and the auto mechanism failed after a few months. Took it back and paid B300 to have it looked at (as not guaranteed) failed again shortly afterwards...
Mrs C bought a second-hand (no pun intended!) watch which also died after a short while.
Mrs C took both watches to a proper jeweler in HH who bought them both back to life and also provided a 1 year guarantee written on one of his repair tickets.
He confirmed that the B4000 I paid was the right price for the Seiko. Even though the s/steel bracelet was wrapped in plastic, I'll never know if the watch itself was actually new...
There are so many watches in the CA shop that maybe he buys them in bulk and doesn't know which ones actually work?

Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
Why would you want to buy a fake watch when for much the same price you can buy a branded watch here in Thailand.albaker wrote:Do they sell replica/copy watches at Cha am Wednesday night market ?

Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
Because a fake Rolex is about 100 times cheaper than the original.
Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
Why would anyone want to wear a fake rolex that judging by the OP, assuming he's talking about a fake Rolex, they don't last very long? You can pick up a good quality new Seiko pretty cheaply in Thailand and they're less common than real rolex's in any case!pitsch wrote:Because a fake Rolex is about 100 times cheaper than the original.

Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
I'm sure that lots of people buy fake Rolex, Breitling etc, in fact I have to admit that I bought one in the late 90's, but as has been said, it didn't last a year so now I do indeed wear a real Seiko (not sure they do fake ones?) and it goes as they say, like clockwork, well by battery!!
Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
Some years ago the battery of my watch finished, I did not like to change the battery in Thailand, because the watch is waterproof for 100 m, and when i change the battery in Germany they also check waterproof.
So i buyed a backup watch at the wednesday market in Cha-Am, a fake Rolex, automatic, price did not remember exactly, about 1200 Baht. I choose this watch because it was the only automatic looks good for me.
Last december the watch stoped working, and i brought her to the dealer on the market, he checked it, but a lot customers, so i said, next week im back.
The next wednesday, i meet him, he give me the watch back, she work, i asked him how much, he answer, nothing.
Thats a good service for me.

They'd cost more than 1200 baht now. They will probably have a very cheap Chinese movement in them, cheap as chips, little more than pennies.Phyton wrote:So i buyed a backup watch at the wednesday market in Cha-Am, a fake Rolex, automatic, price did not remember exactly, about 1200 Baht.

My fake rolex, which I bought for 1000 Baht in a bar in Hua Hin runs now for 2 years (with one change of battery) very accurately. This year another man in the bar wanted to sell me the same model for 1000 Baht. When I said I have already one he said he would give it to me for 500 Baht.
Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
You do know that Rolex don't sell quartz watches? Lets hope you don't get mugged for your fake!pitsch wrote:My fake rolex, which I bought for 1000 Baht in a bar in Hua Hin runs now for 2 years (with one change of battery) very accurately. Phyton was talking about an automatic.

Fair point, but had being the operative word. Not for many years and in very limited numbers. And not the type of watch produced as fakes.Phyton wrote:@Caller

Could you let me know where the watch repair shop was? I have a seiko automatic that I would love to have repaired.Chazz14 wrote:Be wary of the watch/clock/key cutting shop in CA on the south side of the road leading from the P/kasem down to the day market - marked by a large Solex sign...

I also have a vintage (well old) gold rotary watch (automatic) that I am scared to have looked at in Thailand. Does anybody know a watch repair shop that is very rteliable (this one has sentimental value, so I don't want it wrecked; the seiko not so much)till worth knowing though
Re: Replica watches in Cha-am?
I will check with Mrs C and confirm the name of the road.
(I didn't go there with her - she thought it might put the repair cost up...TIT)
