Falling asleep and brake failures seem to be the most common causes. I recently did a bus journey from here to Mukdahan. It took 14 hours and only had a 20 minute break halfway through. I looked up my home country's rules (UK) and the maximum daily driving limit is 9 hours.

Anyone see the news report on TV of the tour bus that crashed today..the scene of the crash was covered (believe it or not) by a traffic camera..shows the bus exiting a bend sideways-on at nearly 45' before slewing the other way, hitting the central reservation, flipping onto it's side & sliding across into the ditch..proper movie stuff..cause??..Sheer speed & stupidity .. :banghead:

(2 killed I think, Oh & guess what?..the driver ran away!) :guns:

Minibus on its side in the ditch near the entrance to Mrigadayawan Palace/Rama 6 Army Camp as I drove past around 7.00 this morning. Few other minibuses of the Bangkok - Hua Hin variety stopped to 'assist'.

Didn't seem a lot of urgency so let's hope the bus was empty.

A report this week was suggesting the P.M. is considering putting a ban on all interstate minivans operating out of BKK. :thumb:
(The report did actually say that minivans were a popular option for getting to the resorts of Hua Hin & Pattaya due to the trip only taking 1 hour)
1 hour? How about linking about 15 of them together, give them their own lane on the Hwy 35/4 and then there's no need for a high speed rail-link  :naughty:
