Thanks for the updates Big Boy and Nereus :)

We have planned a visit to China, then on to Australia and had already planned a flying (no pun intended) stop in Thailand on the 7th November for 3 days, to pick up the in laws and other family members.

If they are doing a display, we may well extend the visit to include a trip to Hua Hin to take in the show and visit family there. :D

Ooo getting excited, but will wait for any confirmation they will be in HH on the 11th.

Things are starting to return to normal, so I'm still quite optimistic.

As the RA display falls within the 30 day window it is hard to see how this will be allowed to take place. It will be a shame if it does not but it is only to be expected.

But the Department of Culture are supposedly saying everything is back to normal now. I'm still very hopeful.

Given the proposed location, do not be surprise if the venue is changed. Also bear mind that one VIP is an enthusiastic pilot.

Correct, there are 'enthusiastic pilots' and there are 'Red Arrows pilots'. Totally different leagues.

The Red Arrows displays can mark an occasion. It can be a joyous occasion and it can be a solemn occasion such as the Battle of Britain Memorial flypast as well as others. If positioned correctly I believe it would be seen as a remrkabke show of solidarity and respect for the Thai people at this time.

^^ Agreed.

And the beauty of a red Arrows display is that you don't necessarily have to be at the official viewpoint to get a good view, particularly particularly if it's somewhere like along the seafront.

About 30 years ago I lived on the clifftops between Dover and Folkestone. The Red Arrows were doing a display for Folkestone, and their gathering point after a fly past was just about level with my house - we even got a wave from one of the pilots! Shame there are no cliffs here...
This is the way

Probably the best display I saw was at Weston Super Mare, sat on the beach. As usual, they scared the hell out of everybody by arriving across the town, which was behind everybody. The seafront there provided the perfect arena with higher ground at either end of the bay.

They never fail to impress.

[Edit] I agree with JJB as well :D

Just looking at the RAF page again, for Hua Hin it is the only entry stating Displays (plural), so maybe that indicates more than one display here
