price of cigarettes in different countries
I saw a list of the price of a pack of marlboros in different countries.
the highest is Australia whose other smoking restriction laws are very tough too-- the eqiv of 665b, NZ not far behind 560b 3rd Norway 445b. UK and Ireland at400B. Thai listed at 100b. The tax income must be huge.

Must be a little bit outdated. Isn't a pack of Marlboro around 125 baht now in Thailand?

The lower Thai price is undoubtedly caused by Thai cigarettes having more filler in them than tobacco. They're without doubt the worst tasting cigarettes I've ever had, and I imagine that's the plan to put people/kids off. Pete

Are you talking about Thai brands now? As far as I can remember Original Marlboro taste as they should, but I quit more than a year ago so things could have changed.prcscct wrote:The lower Thai price is undoubtedly caused by Thai cigarettes having more filler in them than tobacco. ^ Thai Marlboro both red and light. I quit 5 years ago but usually indulge between Christmas and New Year then stop again. They are as I remember them and not even close to USA Marlboro which I have access to from time to time from a military base here. Apples and oranges.
Tobacco is not only meant to be a nicotine delivery device but pleasurable with a premium rich and nutty taste/aroma. Thai smokes are as far away as you can get from that IMO. Pete

I don't think you'll find it too unusual for ex-smokers to have a few at certain times of the year. It really isn't that hard to quit once again after short usage IMO. You just have to expect an uneasy 48-72 hours, then it's over. Double your water intake daily as an assist. Pete

I cant help thinking that driving the price too high will lead to organised crime running black market smuggling deals.
as i reported aus is the highest priced in the world and will raise the tax 12% EVERY year. Aus has a BIG coastline!!

I prefer to live by #NTAP (Never take another puff), since only one cigarette will wake up more than half of all the receptacles in the brain which make us nicotine addicted.
I'm now happily quit smoking for 1 year and 2 weeks!

Try Numbeo for ballpark figures. Marlboro is included in their goods basket.
