what sort of price will i have to pay is it better for my thai company to buy it?
or wait and get it on my retirment visa?

Bozzman, there is a main Toyota dealer in Hua Hin now on Pethakasem Road, on the right on the way into town. A Fortuner costs between 1,036,000 and 1,256,000 Baht depending on the model.

It's better if you get the o-visa and the get the car in your name. Road tax is much lower that way
and insurance premiums seem to be lower if the car is in individuals name rather that in company name.
On police road checks it seems to be better to have the car in you own name. Prices in all Toyota dealers
seem to be same. I compared prices a year ago in Cha-An, Pechaburi and Pranburi and prices were

As regards Toyota dealers I would recommend the one in Cha Am, and would not recommend the Hua Hin one, because the service in the latter has never been very good, while the opposite is true of the former. This could be teething problems with the Hua Hin one, but it has been open a few months now and every time my wife or I go there we are kept waiting a long time to be dealt with, and on a couple of occasions the work we wanted done was not satisfactory (the air con was not working and it has been back twice to be fixed already and now needs attention again, only a few weeks later).
About 14 months ago In Udon, where I spend several months each year, the local Toyota dealer put on a big weekend show near the night market (with the usual impossibly loud Thai group playing “musicâ€

Basically very happy with Fortuner, have the 3.0 automatic diesel; my wife feels very comfortable driving it as well.
Only criticism I have is that the 3rd row of seats are a bit fiddly, but I rarely use them and keep them folded away as that is the space where my golf clubs go.
Prices are fixed in Thailand but occasionally a promotion will give a very small discount and finance concession but I have only ever seen these in poor areas where the dealers are trying to break into the market.
I doubt if you will get anything like that in Bangkok or any South of Bangkok.
As for dealers, I am not 100% sure but I do not believe that you have any ties to the seller whilst the vehicle is on warranty which leaves you free to buy where you like and service somewhere else. Best to check first of course.

I've bought 3 new vehicles in the last 3 years. All from different official Dealers. A Volvo, a Ford and an Isuzu Pickup
I can say that prices are not fixed, of course a recommended price exists, this is true for everything in every country.
Its depends how you negotiate, discounts are common, free insurance is common, and of course free extras is very easy to negotiate. On all cars, we got all 3 (actually I lied, no free insurance for the Volvo). But the discounts in each case were substantial.
We recently bought a Fortuner and are very pleased with it. We purchased it from Expat Motors in Bangkok. We handled the whole deal over the internet and could not have ask for better service on the purchase and follow up. Andy can be reached on his website.
He included several options like tinted windows, floor matts, and a nudge bar in front at no extra cost. The price includes registration, insurance and delivery to Hua Hin. You might check with him on the price. We took the petro mostly because I have always owned petro and understand them better. We are very happy with it.

This is certainly the case with Toyota as long as you go to any official dealership, you get a smart card when you buy the thing on which is recorded the service history.
